The 2017 Festival of Genomics, by Frontline Genomics, was held in the incredibly large ExCel centre in London. Upon entry to the free two day conference, the atmosphere was buzzing with professionals, researchers, students and even some patients and families undergoing genetic counselling; the range in the background of visitors truly reflects how accessible the festival is to everyone.
The staff and organisers of the festival were exceptionally helpful, which aided the innovative delivery of the seminars - each listener was provided headphones, so multiple seminars could take place at once across the venue, and questions could be easily asked and answered from the audience. The range of informative talks from reputable organisations and established speakers was inspirational to say the least, and there was something for everyone interested or learning about genomics.
Visitors travelled from across the globe, and the festival was extremely accommodating to this and celebrating global success. It was very clear that all those a part of this festival was working hard to improve the field of genomics to ultimately benefit patients and the whole clinical community. I extremely enjoyed my visit and will be a definite attendee next year!
